CGA Teacher Consultant Becomes Instructor in UConn Early College Experience Program

Connecticut Geographic Alliance Teacher Consultant Ed Argenta has recently been certified as an instructor in the Early College Experience Program at the University of Connecticut.  Students in his Environmental Science classes at Rockville High School in Vernon will now have the opportunity to earn three University of Connecticut college credits in NRME 100 (National Resource Management and Engineering) while still in high school.  Certification requires UConn ECE instructors to adhere to all standards set by the University of Connecticut and by the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships.  Students in the ECE program are considered UConn non-degree students and have officially started their college careers.  UConn ECE students have access to the same academic benefits as fully matriculated UConn students including lending privileges at all UConn libraries, access to thousands of online academic journals, newspapers, microfiche, archives, databases, research tools, and exclusive academic search engines.  In addition, UConn ECE students can use the University programs such as E-portfolio to help showcase their academic careers.  The CGA Steering Committee and Rockville High School are very excited about this new opportunity for students to broaden their scientific and geographical horizons.
