Grades K-5: This family-oriented program gets parents and children involved in discovering the world through books, maps, special programs, and everyday experiences. One or more teachers host a one-hour workshop for families who do hands-on activities and are encouraged to do a project for three weeks and return their work for a certificate. Each family receives a National Geographic Society world map, an inflatable globe, and a ‘Helping Your Child Learn Geography” booklet.. Grades 5-8: The program can also be used with students in the upper elementary and middle school years. Families attend a one-hour workshop and receive an NGS wall map of the world and related materials. They do various activities at least once a week for six weeks, keeping a log of their work. Then they return the log for prizes and a certificate.
