Geography Action! is an annual conservation and awareness program designed by the National Geographic Society Education Foundation to educate and excite people about our natural, cultural, and historical treasures. The five-year, round-the-world curriculum series has focused on Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe, emphasizing the regional and cultural geography of these areas and promoting geographic fluency in our schools. Each November, Geography Awareness Week provides an excellent opportunity to join Geography Action! in promoting geographic literacy by hosting schoolwide and districtwide geography events! The Geography Action! toolkits from 2008 (the Americas) and 2009 (Europe) are still available, providing excellent resources for classroom use for all ages.
