“Social Studies: Global and Local Connections, Shared Responsibilities”

The Connecticut Council for the Social Studies (CCSS) will host the 39th Northeast Regional Conference on the Social Studies in New Haven, Connecticut.  This year’s NERC will be held at the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale from Wednesday, March 26 through Friday, March 28, 2008.  A group of dedicated social studies educators has been hard at work for the last two years to develop the 39th NERC programming events.  The planned schedule is an exciting one with something that is sure to appeal to everyone.  This annual conference is co-sponsored by the Councils for the Social Studies from Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and New York as well as the New England History Teachers’ Association, the Northeast Regional Geographic Alliances, and the New England, New York, and New Jersey State Departments of Education as well as Programs in International Educational Resources (PIER) at the MacMillan Center, Yale University.  Join educators from throughout the Northeast at this informative conference.  Online registration is now available at the conference website (http://www.ctsocialstudies.org/NERC2008.htm).  The password is NERC39.  If you have any problems with the online registration feature, contact Mary Skelly at mskelly1124@hotmail.com.  Please help the Connecticut Geographic Alliance spread the word about NERC 2008 and the online registration feature.  More specific information about the schedule for NERC 2008 can be found online at www.ctsocialstudies.org
